Strong scores two in 4-0 win at Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half en route to a convincing 4-0 road victory Friday against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at Wood Road Field.

The Cardinals improve to 6-3-3 on the season and 4-2-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the host Rangers fall to 5-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in GLIAC play.

Lainey Garbarz made one stop as the SVSU defense recorded its sixth shutout this fall.

Stephanie Strong scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon in the 19th minute to give all the offense the Cardinals would need. She netted her second tally in the 57th minute to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. Strong leads the team with seven goals and 17 points.

In the 42nd minute, Jessie Falloon found the back of the goal as SVSU took a 2-0 lead into the break.

Madi Bajis added an insurance goal in the 81st minute on a feed from Kaley Douglass.

Besides the scoreboard, the Cardinals also held statistical advantages in shots (13-8), shots on goal (9-1) and corner kicks (3-0).

Saginaw Valley—which also beat Parkside at home, 4-2, on Sept. 23—turns its focus to a GLIAC road encounter at Purdue Northwest on Sunday, with kickoff slated to start at 3 p.m.
