Strong scores two as Cardinals play Walsh to a 2-2 tie

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer traveled to Walsh University for their first road matchup of the year on Friday evening. The Cardinals battled the host Cavaliers to a 2-2 tie in non-conference action, moving SVSU's overall record 2-0-1 on the year.

Stephanie Strong got the scoring started in the fourth minute off of an assist by Lea Grunnagel. Walsh answered with two goals of their own and took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, Strong struck again and made it even at 2-2 in the 57th minute. The game eventually went into extra time, and after two overtime periods, both teams came away with a tie.

Olivia Argeros made one save in net for SVSU. The Cardinals outshot the Cavaliers 8-5, and took the only shot during the overtime. The goals by Strong were her fourth and fifth ones of the season.

SVSU will travel to Ohio Dominican University on Sunday (Sept. 12) for a match at 1:00 p.m.
