SVSU women's golf qualifies for NCAA East Regional

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf was announced as a qualifying team for the NCAA Division II East Regional. The 54-hole tournament will be conducted May 2-4 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Cardinals are seeded 12th in the event and are one of the five schools from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to qualify for the regional. The top five teams along with the top two individuals from non-qualifying teams from the super regional will advance to the NCAA championships. 18 teams and eight individuals from non-qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA Championships from four different regional sites across the country. 

The qualification for the Cardinals is the first for the program as a team since SVSU added women's golf prior to the 2015-16 season. 

SVSU advanced to the GLIAC matchplay semifinals this past weekend after finishing fourth in the stroke-play competition. Led by head coach Daniel Allen, the team of Amanda EhrlichBrook HerbstreitEmily O'Brien, Megan Kozlowski, and Andie Martin fell to eventual conference champion Grand Valley State University.
