Four Seniors Named College Sports Communicators Women's Basketball Academic All-District

The College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) announced the 2022-23 Academic All‐District® Women's Basketball Team this week. Four Saginaw Valley State University women's players were on the list of honorees.

Seniors Kaitlyn Zarycki, Tori DePerry, Jessica Massey, and Tyler Scheid were among the NCAA Division II women's basketball student-athletes that were named all-district winners.

Zarycki has had a record-setting season as she has set career highs in points per game (21.1), steals (60), and offensive rebounds (37). She broke an over-40-year-old record in points per game when she scored 44 against Davenport this past Saturday. The Niles, Michigan native is currently leading the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with her 89.2 free-throw percentage, she is second in scoring, and fourth in field goal percentage. Zarycki has earned four conference player of the week awards this season.

DePerry has also recorded career-high marks this season. She is scoring 17.3 points per game and shooting just one percentage point below her career high in field goal percentage. The forward from Shawano, Wisconsin sits fourth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (8.2) and fifth in scoring average. She set a career-high in points with 31 against Michigan Tech on January 5.

Massey sits fifth on the team in points per game with 5.3. She has made 26 starts for the Cardinals this year and has career-best in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. Like her fellow seniors on the list, Massey scored a career-high in points during the current campaign. Hers was a 17-point performance against Nova Southern on December 18.

Scheid has a career-high 4.8 points per contest clip and has improved on her shooting percentage in both field goals and three-pointers. She matched her career-high 14 points in the game at Cedarville on New Year's Eve. The Coldwater, Michigan native is sixth on the team in scoring and has started in all 26 games during the 2022-23 season.

All Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the College Sports Communicators Academic All‐America® ballot. The First‐, second, and third‐team Academic All‐ America® honorees will be announced in mid‐March.
