Zarycki leads SVSU women's basketball GLIAC honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team had two student-athletes earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors on Friday. 

Kaitlyn Zarycki was named First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Defensive. It is the second straight year Zarycki has earned First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Defensive honors, and the third year in a row Zarycki has earned All-GLIAC honors.  

The junior from Niles, Mich., ranked second in scoring in the GLIAC with 18.7 points per game. She also surpassed 1000 career points earlier this season in the Cardinals' 73-43 victory over Lake Superior State University on Jan. 29. On defense, she recorded 2.2 steals per game and averaged 5.9 rebounds. Zarycki has been named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week three times this season as well. 

Maddie Maloney earned Second Team All-GLIAC honors for the second straight year. The senior guard averaged 11.3 points and shot 42,9 percent from 3-point range this season. Her 3-point shooting percentage ranked third in the GLIAC, and she also surpassed 1,000 career points in the Cardinals victory over Davenport on Feb. 24. 

SVSU closed the season with a 16-11 overall record and an 11-8 mark in GLIAC play.
