Alona Olshevska and Cheyenne Nesbitt Claim GLIAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week Awards

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. – Saginaw Valley State University student-athletes Alona Olshevska (Track Athlete of the Week) and Cheyenne Nesbitt (Field Athletes of the Week) were named the GLIAC Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week today by the league office.

Nesbitt set a new program mark in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.32 seconds to finish first in the preliminary heats. Nesbitt joined Alona OlshevskaSophia Thelen, and Angelina Delbosque in the 4x100 relay. The quartet set a new school record with 45.72 seconds in the event and placed third. Nesbitt also competed in the long jump where she finished third with a jump of 6.08m.

Alona Olshevska set a new outdoor record in the 400m with a time of 53.39 to win the race. She was a member of the record-setting 4x100 relay team with Cheyenne Nesbitt, Sophia Thelen, and Angelina Delbosque who set a school-best time of 45.72 seconds to finish the race in third. Olshevska competed in the 200m dash as well, placing fourth in the event with a time of 24.22.

The SVSU track and field team will travel to Grand Valley State this weekend for the GLIAC Outdoor Championships beginning on Wednesday, May 1, and ending on Friday, May 3.
