Women’s Distance Medley Relay Finishes Season Earning All-American Honors

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -  The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams traveled to Virginia Beach Sports Complex to compete in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend.

On Friday, Lauren Buckner competed in the one-mile prelims and finished with a time of 4:52.15 capping her record-setting year in the mile run with a 23rd-place finish on the national stage.

Buckner's night was not over though as she and her three teammates Cassandra Campbell, Karissa Picard, and Alexa Keiser competed in the Distance Medley Relay race. The quartet placed seventh place overall earning themselves All-American honors. The relay squad finished their race in 11:33.87 which was just .26 seconds behind the next team.

Both the men's and women's teams will now prepare for the outdoor season, looking to build on a strong showing over their 2022-2023 tenure.
