Stimpfel, Williamson earn All-American honors on day one at NCAA DII Nationals

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams opened day one of the NCAA Division II Championships on Friday evening at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan. on the campus of Pittsburg State University. 

Women's Highlights:

  • Cheyenne Williamson earned All-American honors in the long jump when she placed fourth with a leap of 6.10 meters. She advanced to the 60-meter hurdle final with a first-place finish in the prelims with a time of 8.39 seconds. 
  • Alona Olshevska advanced to the finals in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. She placed sixth in both prelims with times of 24.25 and 55.37 seconds. Her 200-meter time was a new school record. 

Men's Highlights:

  • CarLee Stimpfel earned All-American honors after finishing fourth in the 5000-meter run in 13:47.85. It is the second All-American award of 2021-22 for Stimpfel, as he earned the honor during cross country season this past fall.
  • Also competing in the 5000-meter race was Dayton Brown. He finished 14th with a time of 14:11.71.

Day two of the NCAA DII Championships will begin at 10 am CST Saturday from the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan. on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
