Cardinals Compete in Multiple Events at NCAA DII Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. – Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving program had their longest day of events at IU Natatorium for day four of five of the national championships on Friday.

Starting with Alejandro Robles Ruiz who just came off one of the best performances in SVSU swim history, he swam in the 100-yard backstroke placing 22nd with a time of 48.74 seconds. Robles Ruiz also competed in the final event of the day along with Eric Slabbert, Almos Szedlak, and Logan Fox in the 200-ard freestyle relay. They placed 13th with a final time of 1:20.52. That time added eight points to SVSU's score and leaves them in 18th place overall.

Flora Mia Szklenar raced between those two events in the 200-yard butterfly. Szklenar finished in 2:03.05 placing 17th.

UP NEXT

One more day of competition at the NCAA DII Championships remains. Events start Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Robles Ruiz will race in the 200-yard backstroke and SVSU men will race in the 400-yard freestyle relay to end the meet.
