Eight Cardinals earn All-GLIAC honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team had eight student-athletes earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors following the regular season. SVSU closed the regular season with a 31-18 overall record and 17-10 mark in GLIAC play. 

Earning First Team All-GLIAC honors were Sara Moos, Blasia Moyler, Jackie Popko, and Emily Depew. Moos has appeared in all 49 games this season, recording a .299 batting average with one home run and 25 RBIs. Moyler has played 45 games primarily at the catcher position. She is hitting .322 with three home runs and 21 RBIs. Depew has made 24 appearances on the mound for SVSU, while making 16 starts. She has posted a 12-9 record while recording one save in 117.2 innings pitched with a 2.02 ERA that ranks third in the GLIAC, while her 12 wins rank fifth in the league. Popko has appeared in 45 games this year for SVSU. The junior has hit .321 with six home runs and 24 RBIs. She's also stolen 13 bases for the Cardinals, ranking third in the GLIAC

Julia Salisbury and Julia Mundy were named Second Team All-GLIAC. Salisbury has played in 48 games at first base for the Cardinals, hitting .342 with one home run and 24 RBIs. Mundy has made 21 appearances on the mound this season, posting an 11-5 record with one save in 114.0 innings pitched. She has recorded 98 strikeouts and a 1.84 ERA, which ranks second in the GLIAC

Sarah Gersch and Meagan VerVaecke earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC. Gersch has played in all 49 games, hitting .292 with two home runs and 20 RBIs. She leads the conference in stolen bases with 21. VerVaecke has played in 48 games at second base for SVSU, hitting .280 with six home runs and 30 RBIs.
