UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team played six games last week on the road in Ohio in preparation for the 2022 GLIAC season.

Cam Coonan led the SVSU offense to four wins, earning GLIAC Player of the Week honors for the first time. Coonan is the second consecutive Cardinal to win the award, joining Jackie Popko last week.

The Freeland, Mich., native batted .600 with 12 hits in 20 plate appearances in six games. She added three doubles, three RBIs, seven runs scored and one stolen base. In 16 games this season for the Cardinals, Coonan is batting .472 with 12 runs scored.

SVSU opens GLIAC play against Ferris State University at noon on Saturday at the SVSU Softball Complex.
