SVSU Men's Basketball Continues Christopher Jacobi Roundball Club for the 2023-24 Season

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State Men's Basketball program has launched the Christopher Jacobi Roundball Club for the 2023-24 season. The Christopher Jacobi Roundball Club serves as the support group for SVSU Men's Basketball, which is coming off a strong 22-23 season that saw Tre Garrett and Freddie McIntosh named All-GLIAC and Tre and Kevonne Taylor named to the All-Defensive team. The Cardinals have re-loaded for the 23-24 season with the addition of seven newcomers by way of Division 2, NAIA, and junior college transfers and two stellar high school student-athletes.

The funds generated through the Christopher Jacobi Roundball Club are vital in developing the type of quality program that the Cardinal Basketball Family — which includes alumni, parents, friends, and fans — will feel proud to support and that our student-athletes deserve. All funds generated go directly to our student-athletes by way of gear, travel, meals, etc.

Men's Basketball alum (1994) Steve Klein has been a strong supporter of the program on and off the court and is reaching out to all Cardinal fans to step up and increase their support. "I am proud of the SVSU Men's Basketball program that I once played for and am proud of the program that Coach Baruth and his staff have built. My reason for reaching out is to help get us to the level needed financially to consistently win in the most competitive D2 league in the country, the GLIAC. I know that Coach and his staff have been working day and night to develop the Cardinal program into a consistent winner, but it's our time to back him financially and join the Christopher Jacobi Roundball Club," added Klein.

The Men's Basketball program is focused on consistently competing for GLIAC championships. In order to be a perennial contender for banners and rings, the resources and funds must be there. The Christopher Jacobi Roundball Club is essential to helping the program reach its maximum potential. The coaching staff and student-athletes ask you to please consider making a donation to help push the program to new heights.

In 2021, the program announced the renaming of their Roundball Club for Christopher Jacobi, who started at point guard for the Cardinals in 1990-1994. Chris, 49, passed away early in the morning on September 5th, 2021. He leaves behind his wife, Morgan, and their four children, Titus, Lucy, Livie, and Jack. Chris was not only a talented player on the court – finishing in the record books for career assists, career-made made 3's, and career steals – but a standout person off of it.
