Luksic named GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University football team held off Texas A&M-Kingsville for a season-opening win at home on Saturday night.

The Cardinals were boosted on several plays by junior kicker/punter Connor Luksic. The Springsboro, Ohio native pinned the Javelinas inside the 1-yard line in the first half. Later in the game, Luksic saw a ball fly over his head on a punt snap. He raced 30 yards to the ball, picked it up, and drove a punt up the field to save 50 yards of field position for SVSU.

Luksic put the Cardinals in front for good in the second half with a pair of field goals to secure the win.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named Luksic the week one Special Teams Player of the Week.
