Jatczak Wins Third GLIAC Player of the Week

Jatczak Wins Third GLIAC Player of the Week

Saginaw Valley State University senior Hayden Jatczak had an impressive week at the plate. Going 14-for-19 with three doubles, a triple, and three home runs while scoring eight runs and driving in nine helped the Cardinals to four wins in five games with three of them coming against Grand Valley State to clinch a share of the GLIAC regular season championship. The Bay City native also tied the single season home run record for Saginaw Valley when he hit two bombs in the final game of the weekend for 14 on the year. Jatczak batted an astonishing .737 with four walks and a hit-by-pitch for an on-base percentage of .792. He slugged a massive 1.474 for an on-base plus slugging of 2.266. Cardinal baseball has four games remaining this upcoming weekend as they host Parkside. SVSU needs one win to win the GLIAC regular season championship outright. This is the first time since 2002 that Saginaw Valley will finish first in the GLIAC.
