SVSU (14-15, 6-6) won the seven-inning game 5-1 and the nine-inning contest 14-4 against DU (13-19, 7-5).

Tyler McLaren (W, 6-0) had a standout day pitching all seven innings in game one and allowed only one run on seven hits and struck out three. After two scoreless innings, SVSU got on the board in the top of the third. Jaccar Watkins walked to lead it off and Colin Cornwell doubled him home on the next at-bat. After Cornwell was advanced to third on a ground out, Martin Money knocked him in with an RBI single giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.

A double sacrifice squeeze play with Tucker Roe laying down the bunt and both Scheurer and McClennen scoring making it 5-0. All five runs were against Davenport starter Carson Fischer (L, 3-5) who threw 5 1/3 innings with eight hits and four walks against.

Panthers starter Devon Nettles (L, 0-1) gave up the first five runs on seven hits in his three innings of work.

The lead was pushed to four runs in the seventh with a Roe RBI single before another run for DU in the bottom of the inning to make it 7-4. The one run against SVSU came off of Nolan Knauf who pitched two innings in relief striking out one and walking one.

The last two innings were all SVSU. Reed Raymond shut down the bats on the mound allowing one hit in two innings of work while the offense kept scoring.
