Women's Tennis drops 5-2 road contest at GVSU

ALLENDALE -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team dropped a Sunday road match at Grand Valley State, falling by a score of 5-2 to the Lakers. GVSU swept through the doubles matches for that point and won four of the six singles matches to get its five points.

For the second straight match, Joanne Gao and Nicole Johnson claimed singles victories for the only two Cardinal points. Gao was victorious 6-3, 6-7 (7-2), 15-13 in a tight #2 singles matchup. Johnson had a three-set win in the #6 spot, winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. 

Gyselle Daza Gutierrez lost in three sets at #4 singles, falling 6-4, 0-6, 4-10, while Taylor McLaughlin came close to forcing a third set but dropped her #3 singles contest 1-6, 5-7.

Saginaw Valley competes at the 2019 ITA Regional Tournament this upcoming weekend. It is set to take place September 20-22 and is hosted by Davenport University.
