Cards drop match at Hillsdale in Saturday action

HILLSDALE -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team traveled to Hillsdale College on Saturday, facing the Chargers in regional action. Saginaw Valley battled in the match but ended up falling in the match, 7-0. 

Doubles

The Chargers claimed the doubles point and won the #1 by a narrow 6-4 point over Maddie Miller and Joanne Gao. Nicole Johnson and Talyor McLaughlin dropped their match at #2 doubles by a 6-1 count. 

Singles

Gao had a very close matchup at the #2 singles spot, winning the first set 7-6, dropping the second 6-1 and losing the third set tiebreaker by an 11-9 count. Johnson had a setback at #4 singles, losing by scores of 6-4, 7-5. McLaughlin fell at #3 singles 7-6, 6-3 and Miller lost her #1 match by a 6-4, 6-3 count. The #5 and #6 positions were won by default by the Chargers due to the the Cards not having people at those spots.

SVSU finishes its 2018-19 season after the match with the Chargers and will return its entire roster from this season.
