Women's Tennis falls at Wayne State in league matchup

DETROIT -- The SVSU Women's Tennis team hit the road to begin the weekend, starting with a Saturday morning match at Wayne State. The Cardinals dropped the matchup by a 7-0 score, falling to 3-2 overall on the season. 

The Warriors swept through doubles action, taking the 1-0 lead into singles play. Maddie Miller and Gyselle Daza Gutierrez fell at #1 doubles by a 6-3 count. Joanne Gao and Maya Campbell dropped their #2 doubles match by a score of 6-1 while Taylor McLaughlin and Nicole Johnson fell at #3, 6-2.

In singles, Gutierrez had the closest battle, dropping a 6-3, 6-4 match at the #5 singles position. Campbell fell 6-4, 6-2 at the #4 position as well. 

Miller fell 6-3, 6-2 at the top singles spot while Gao lost 6-1, 6-2 at #2. McLaughlin lost a hard-fought second set, 7-5, after falling in the first 6-0 at #3. Johnson dropped her contest at #6 by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
