Women's Golf sits 6th after 18 holes at GLIAC Championships

AUGUSTA -- Competing in the opening round of the 2019 GLIAC Championships, the Saginaw Valley State University Women's Golf team sits in 6th place after the first 18 holes of action. The Cardinals shot a first round 330 at the Stonehedge Golf Club - North in Augusta, Michigan.

SVSU is two strokes behind 5th place Davenport and 11 behind Northwood and Wayne State, which are tied for 3rd. GVSU leads the tournament after a 299, 18 strokes clear of Northern Michigan. 

Alexa Marston had the low round for the Cardinals, sitting tied for 10th place after her score of 79. 

Emily Barker is tied for 21st after an 82 while Annika Neumann had an 83 and is in a tie for 25th place. Jenna Pepper is tied for 35th after her score of 86 to round-out the team's scoring. 

Keegan Miller had an 87, tying for 38th place overall.

Saginaw Valley is set to begin second round play at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, looking to secure a spot in the top-four for the championships match play rounds.
