Cardinal Women match 18-hole record en route to runner-up finish at SVSU Spring Invite

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Golf team finished the 2018 SVSU Spring Invitational with a runner-up finish, finishing with a two-day total score of 635. The Lady Cardinals followed up Saturday's 322 with a score of 313, matching the 18-hole program record. 

The Cards were in sixth place after play on Saturday and the stellar round on Sunday moved them up four slots to the second spot. Grand Valley State claimed the title at the event.

Emily Barker had the team's low round for the second straight day, posting a 77 on Sunday. She carded rounds of 80-77 (+13) to finish the weekend in a tie for 14th place. The 77 matched her career low round. 

Sabrina Coffman was right behind, putting together a score of 78 to finish with a score of 158 (80-78, +14). She finished tied for 16th place.

Shelbe Cahill had a 78 on Sunday as well, putting her in a tie for 21st place after her rounds of 82-78. She was tied with Alexa Marston, who went with consecutive scores of 80-80 for her 160 total tally.

Katie Boyd finished the weekend with scores of 83-84, finishing tied for 41st place for the Cardinals.

Annika Neumann and Jenna Pepper played as individuals this weekend, finishing in 57th and 74th places, respectively. Neumann had scores of 86-85 while Pepper carded rounds of 90-89.

Saginaw Valley plays next at the NCAA Regional event, which will take place Mar. 24-25 at the Perry Park Golf Resort in Perry Park, Kentucky.
