Women's Golfers Wrap-up Fall Season at Battle in Belmont

BELMONT -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Golfers finished the fall portion of the 2017-18 season by finishing in 5th place at the Battle in Belmont, hosted by Davenport University. First round play was at the Blythefield Country Club with Tuesday's action happening at the Belmont Golf Club. 

The Lady Cardinals posted rounds of 327-324, finishing with a total of 651. They were six strokes back of fourth-place Tiffin University. Wayne State University claimed the title with a score of 634. 

Sabrina Coffman finished runner-up in the tournament, improving five strokes from an opening round 80 to shoot a 75. She finished just four strokes off the lead with her +11 total and was tied for the low round of the day.

Shelbe Cahill finished in a tie for 19th place overall, putting together rounds of 81-83 (164, +20). 

Lucy Cornwell and Alexa Marston were next for the Cardinals, finishing in 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Cornwell shot 83-84 (167, +23) and Marston went 86-82 (168, +24). 

Emily Barker carded rounds of 83-89 (172, +28) in competition for Saginaw Valley as well. 

The event completes the fall portion of the team's 2017-18 season. The team picks back up on March 17-18 when the Cards host the SVSU Spring Invitational in Kentucky.
