Cardinals 7th After Opening Round of SVSU Fall Invitational

BAY CITY -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Golf team opened play for the weekend at the SVSU Fall Invitational on Saturday (Sep. 23) at the Saginaw Valley Public Golf Course. The Lady Cardinals shot a team score of 318, a new program low, for the first 18 holes of action.

SVSU sits in 7th place after the first round, three strokes behind Northern Michigan University. Ashland leads the event after an opening day score of 298 by seven strokes.

Scores

Alexa Marston and Lucy Cornwell led the way for the Cards, each shooting a score of 79 (+7). They are in a tie for 21st place overall. Sabrina Coffman and Shelbe Cahill were right behind, carding a round of 80 (+8) and sitting in a tie for 26th place to round-out the team's scoring. Emily Barker shot an 83 on day one as well for the Cardinals. 

For the SVSU players competing as individuals, Annika Neumann had the low round with her score of 79. Katie Boyd (87) and Katie Morrissey (88) played as individuals as well for the Cardinals. 

Up Next...

The team continues play with final round action on Sunday (Sep. 24) at the Saginaw Valley Public Golf Course. The day will feature a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
