UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The SVSU Women's Basketball team hosted Davenport University on Saturday (Feb. 15) in a league tilt at O'Neill Arena. The Cardinals were solid throughout, claiming a 75-72 victory over the Panthers to complete the season sweep over Davenport. 

Saginaw Valley got double-digit scoring efforts from four players, including a career-high 19 points from Mariah Cook. Kaitlyn Zarycki had (16), Maddie Maloney (13) and Tori DePerry (12) joined Cook in that effort.

The victory puts the Cards at 12-13 overall and 8-9 in the GLIAC while Davenport falls to 7-18 and 2-15 in league action.

The Cardinals had a high offensive output in the first quarter, scoring 27 points to take a 27-14 lead through 10 minutes. SVSU hit on 10-of-16 shots and got 11 first quarter points from Cook.

In the second quarter, the home team posted a 12-9 edge to take a 39-23 lead into the halftime break. Kaitlyn Geers and Kaitlyn Zarycki each had four points in the second frame for SV.

SVSU scored 18 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, holding the Panthers to totals of 14 and 15 points, to close-out for a 75-52 win. The third quarter saw Zarycki add six points and Cook five. Maloney had nine points in the fourth and final quarter.

• Cook had a game-high and matched her career-high with 19 points. She hit on 7-of-8 shots and 4-of-5 from deep and added three rebounds, two assists and a steal. 
• Zarycki had 16 points with a team-best eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block. She was named the Meijer "Player of the Game."
• DePerry had a dozen points and matched the team-high of eight rebounds with a steal.
• Maloney had 13 points with four assists and a pair of boards. 
• Maddie Barrie rounded-out the trio with a team-high eight rebounds in the game.
