Cardinals Fall in Final Exhibition, 72-52

DETROIT, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team fell in their final exhibition tune-up to the University of Detroit Titans by a final score of 72-52 tonight (Nov. 8).

The Cardinals struggled offensively in the first half, entering the locker room down 40-15.  SVSU would see solid play from Meijer "Player of the Game" Cheritee Green (Wyoming Park, Mich.), who scored four points and pulled down four rebounds in just eight minutes of action.  Aysha Boston (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance HS) would lead the Cardinals with five points in 19 minutes of play in the first.

The Cardinals would find their offensive groove in the second half as they outscored the Titans 37-32.  Jasmine Kennedy (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) led all players in the second half with 12 points.  Green would add six points and eight rebounds to end the night with double-double (10-12). 

Boston would lead all Cardinal scorers with 14 points for the game, while Grace Herzog (Linden, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) would pull down seven rebounds and have game high four blocked shots for SVSU.

The Cardinals have now concluded the exhibition portion of their schedule and open regular season play against Lewis University on November 12 in O'Neil Arean.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
