SVSU Lady Cardinals Set New School Record

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's track and field team competed in day one of the GVSU Big Meet. The women's team ended day one action on a high note setting a new school record and a NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying time in the 4x400-meter relay as the team of Cheyenne Williamson, Alona Olshevska, Morgan Fuerst, and Lauren Huebner placed first coming in with a final time of 3:47.39. This time ranks 7th in the nation and is the fastest time in the GLIAC.

Women

Timyah Meeks placed first in the weight throw with a NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying mark of 60' 4" which is also a school record for the Cardinals. This mark is currently the 10th furthest throw in the nation and third furthest in the GLIAC.

Lauren Huebner placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles coming in with a time of 8.86. This time would get her into the finals but she would not compete as she prepared to run a school record setting leg in the 4x400-meter relay. The team came in first crossing the line at 3:47.39.

Cheyenne Williamson placed fourth in the high jump clearing a bar of 5' 6" and ran a leg on the school record setting 4x400-meter relay.

Morgan Fuerst placed ninth in the 800-meter run coming in with a NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying time of 2:13.29 and ran a leg of the record setting 4x400-meter relay team.

Alona Olshevska placed 10th in the 60-meter crossing the line with a final time of 7.70 and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team.

Men

Sam Black earned a first place finish in the high jump clearing a NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying mark of 6' 11". He was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team who placed ninth coming in at 3:17.42.

Ryan Talbott placed fourth in his heat of the 5,000-meter coming in with a final time of 14:19.20.

Casey Williams also placed fourth in the long jump competition with a mark of 22' 7".

Nate McCrary placed 15th in the 60-meter recording a season best of 6.97 for the Cardinals.

Juan Bowers earned a 14th place finish in the 200-meter clocking in at 22.17.
