ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinal Softball team continued its trip on Friday (Mar. 9) afternoon, facing Missouri-St. Louis in a regional doubleheader. The Tritons would come out ahead in both contests, taking the opener by a 7-1 before closing-out for the sweep with a 7-0 victory in the nightcap.
Game 1 (L, 7-1)
The Tritons took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take the 4-0 edge.
Saginaw Valley got on the board with a single run in the top of the 4th, using a lead-off solo home run from Courtney Reeves to make the score 4-1.
UMSL added two more in the bottom of the 4th and another in the home half of the 6th, pushing the lead to the final count of 7-1.
Maddy Burgess had two hits in the game while Reeves (HR) and Lauren Bachert (2B) had the only extra-base hits for SV in the game.
Anna Conard (4-2) took the loss pitching, working just 1.1 innings while allowing four runs on four hits. She walked two and had two strikeouts as well.
Game 2 (L, 7-0)
The only scoring in the nightcap came from UMSL, as the Tritons scored a trio of runs in the bottom of the 3rd and four more in the 4th to take a 7-0 edge.
That's what the final score would end up being as well, with Missouri-St. Louis coming away with the sweep.
Becky Corbett had two of the Cardinals' four hits in the game, adding a stolen base. Burgess had a hit and steal as well.
Kasey Bagelmann (0-2) got the start and took the loss in the circle, tossing 3.0 innings in game two. She allowed two hits, three runs and had two walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Saginaw Valley is off until Saturday, Mar. 17 when they travel to play a doubleheader at Ohio Valley in regional action. First pitch for game one is slated for noon.
