Softball Qualifies For Third-Straight NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team has qualified for its third-straight NCAA Division II Softball Tournament, it was announced today (May 10) by the NCAA Selection Committee.

The Cardinals will play at the Midwest Regional #1, which is hosted by fellow GLIAC member Wayne State University.  SVSU (27-14) will square-off against the University of Indianapolis (36-15) in the first round in what is a re-match of last year's Midwest Super-regional match-up, in which the Greyhounds won in three games.  The other first round contest features Wayne State (47-10) and Quincy (36-15).  The games will be played on Friday (May 14) at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm, respectively.

The second regional, which is being hosted by Ashland University, includes Ashland vs. Tiffin and Lewis vs. Northern Kentucky in first round match-ups.

The winners of the two regional tournaments will meet in a three game super-regional series, with the winner advancing to the 2010 NCAA Division II World Series.
