Martin Maybin served his first season as the assistant coach for the SVSU Men's Soccer program in 2019. 

The Cardinals posted an overall record of 13-6-1 and a GLIAC mark of 10-4. Saginaw Valley finished second in the league standings and advanced to the championship match of the 2019 GLIAC Tournament. 

Senior forward Connor Rutz was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-GLIAC First Team. Junior midfielder Alex Gloshen senior defender Wladimir Babaew were named to the All-GLIAC Second Team as well. 

Rutz was named to the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Team and was named a Second Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. Gloshen, Babaew and Robbie Bruce joined Rutz as being named United Soccer Coaches all-region honorees, as all three were listed on the third team. 

Maybin comes to Saginaw Valley State University after playing four years of professional soccer with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC of the USL and the Carrick Rangers of the Northern Irish Premiership. With the Colorado Springs, he scored 18 goals. 

Martin was a four-year standout student-athlete at Regis University, where he is the program's all-time leading scorer with 53 goals in 73 matches with 18 of those being game-winners. Maybin finished second in program history as well with his 28 assists and helped guide the program to a number one ranking in the nation and appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. 

Maybin was a two-time all-american at Regis, earning honors from the NSCAA and Daktronics in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He was named to the All-RMAC First Team three times and was the league's player of the year in 2014. The two-time Regis Male Student-Athlete of the Year also was named to the All-South Central Region Team three times. He was the South Central Region's Player of the Year in 2014. 

Martin is a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
