Louis Barrow enters his fifth season as head coach of SVSU men's soccer in Fall 2023. Barrow has a career record of 45-12-11 (32-7-8 in GLIAC play) during his tenure.

The Cardinals finished 2022 undefeated for the first time in program history with an overall record of 14-0-5 and a 9-0-3 mark in conference play. SVSU swept the GLIAC crowns and hosted a first-round match in the NCAA DII Men’s Soccer Tournament.

Barrow and his staff were honored with the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Midwest Region Staff of the Year honor. SVSU also garnered two NCAA DII CCA All-America honors for Jonathan Monney and Benjamin Adamson. Monney was also named a United Soccer Coaches All-America recipient and D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year. Nine Cardinals earned GLIAC awards highlighted by Monney gaining conference Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-GLIAC. Adamson was the Defensive Player of the Year and first team selection while Barrow snagged his second GLIAC Coach of the Year honor. Phila Dlamini, Robbie Baker, and Jayden Cameron joined Adamson and Monney on the first-team All-GLIAC. Brady Walker, Nick Kay, and Chidie Nnolim were second-team selections, while Anthony Waller was an honorable mention.

Saginaw Valley State finished 2021 with a 10-5-5 mark overall and a 6-3-5 mark in GLIAC play. SVSU saw 10 games head into overtime play during the season, including six straight in October. Barrow coached five Cardinals to All-GLIAC honors. Robbie Bruce and Benjamin Adamson earned First Team All-GLIAC honors, Robbie Baker and Brady Walker landed on the Second Team, and Gabriello Calamita was named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC. Barrow led SVSU to a GLIAC Quarterfinal overtime victory over Northern Michigan University, before falling to Davenport in the GLIAC Semifinals.

The 2020 season was moved to spring 2021 and Barrow led the Cardinals to an 8-1 record in conference only play. Saginaw Valley would win the GLIAC Regular Season championship with a perfect 7-0-0 record. The Cardinals would defeat Upper Iowa in the quarterfinals of the tournament before falling to Ashland in the semifinals. Danny Barlow and Ben Adamson were both named to the GLIAC All-Tournament team. Overall, 12 Cardinals earned All-GLIAC honors, including Barrow, who was named the Coach of the Year by the conference. Barlow was the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Robbie Baker was the Defensive Player of the Year. In net, Mason Maziasz was named the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year. Robbie Bruce joined the trio on the All-GLIAC First Team, while Adamson, Kairo Coore, and Brady Walker landed on the Second Team. Lachlan Hepburn earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honors as well. 

The Cardinals posted an overall record of 13-6-1 and a GLIAC mark of 10-4 in Barrow's first season as head coach. Saginaw Valley finished second in the league standings and advanced to the championship match of the 2019 GLIAC Tournament. 

Senior forward Connor Rutz was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-GLIAC First Team. Junior midfielder Alex Gloshen senior defender Wladimir Babaew were named to the All-GLIAC Second Team as well. 

Rutz was named to the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Team and was named a Second Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. Gloshen, Babaew and Robbie Bruce joined Rutz as being named United Soccer Coaches all-region honorees, as all three were listed on the third team. 

Barrow was a two-year student-athlete for the Cardinals, playing as a defender in the 2015 and 2016 seasons before joining the team's coaching staff. Saginaw Valley competed in the NCAA Division II Tournament all of the past four years with him a member of the team, including a 2018 GLIAC regular season championship and trip to the NCAA Division II Round of 16 with Barrow as an assistant.

In Barrow's first season as a student-athlete in 2015, the Cards advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament. 

Prior to coming to Saginaw Valley as a Men's Soccer student-athlete, Barrow played at Regis University (Colo.), where he was a two year starter for the Rangers at the defender position. He prepped at Monkseaton High School in in Whitley Bay, NorthTyneside, England and is a 2013 graduate of the school. 

Barrow, a native of Newcastle England, currently resides in Bay City, Michigan with his fiancé, Meghan. He graduated in May 2018 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.
