#19 Men's Soccer ties at Northwood, 1-1

MIDLAND -- The No. 19 Saginaw Valley State University Men's Soccer team traveled to Northwood University on Sunday (Oct. 14) for another league contest. The teams played to a 1-1 draw after the Timberwolves knotted the score towards the end of regulation and neither team was able to score in the overtime sessions.

Saginaw Valley is now 8-1-5 overall on the season and 6-1-3 in the GLIAC while the Timberwolves are 5-7-1 and 3-5-1 in league play.

It didn't take too long for SVSU to get on the board, as Azaad Liadi picked up a turnover and found the back of the net at the 17' mark for the 1-0 lead.

The Cards got six shots in the opening 45 minutes compared to four shots for Northwood as the score remained in SVSU's favor at halftime.

In the second period, the Timberwolves had eight shots and SVSU had six. Northwood tied the match up at 1-1 at the 88' point when Sam Richards scored off a long throw-in.

That score remained through regulation and the match went into overtime.

SVSU got two shots off in each overtime period, including a shot on goal and another that went off the post.

The 1-1 score proved to be the final count after 20 minutes of bonus soccer.
