CALEDONIA -- The Cardinal Men's Soccer team scored a late first half goal and added three more in the second half, claiming a 4-1 road victory at Davenport University on Sunday afternoon in GLIAC action. 

The win moves SVSU to 4-1-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the GLIAC. Davenport falls to 2-6-1 and 1-3-0 in league action.

Saginaw Valley responded to a first half Panther goal to knot the score at 1-1 just before halftime, as Alex Gloshen found Azaad Liadi for the tying goal with just three seconds left on the clock in the first. 

It was a defensive battle for the first 45 minutes, as SV had three shots and Davenport only two.

It didn't take long for the Cardinal offense to get going and continue in the second frame, with Michael Shaikly cashing-in on a loose ball to give the visitors a 2-1 lead with less than two minutes gone in the second half.

At the 63' marker, Pablo Ortiz scored another goal for SV, using a pass from Jake Rosen to push the lead to 3-1. The final goal of the match came off the foot of Brady Walker, who received a pass from Ryan Pierson to put the contest at its final score of 4-1 with less than 10 minutes left.

• All four goals for the Cardinals were for first of the season for the respective players, as Liadi, Shaikly, Ortiz and Walker all got on the board for 2018 in the goal column.
• Gloshen and Pierson now have two assists-apiece for the Cardinals on the season. 
• Rosen notched his first helper and point of the 2018 campaign as well. 
• SVSU finished with a 13-5 edge in overall shots and 7-4 lead in shots on-goal.
• Lukas Betz (3-1-1) got the win in net, making two saves and allowing a single goal in the victory.

"Very happy with the result today against a well coached and quality Davenport team. Our games have become hard battles and when we went a goal down our character was going to be truly put to the test. We showed great courage to come back and win the game 4-1 but we still have plenty of things to clean up on in order to get on a good run.

Two away wins is always nice, especially coming from a goal down in both, but we need to eliminate these mental lapses and get back to shutting teams out, which we are more than capable of. It was nice to score some goals this weekend and I am proud of the way we reacted as a program to the loss last weekend."
