Shelagowski Named to NCBWA First Team All-Midwest Region

Saginaw Valley State University redshirt sophomore Jake Shelagowski was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) First Team All-Midwest Region as a relief pitcher on Friday. Shelagowski was also named First Team All-GLIAC earlier this season.

In the 2025 season, Shelagowski recorded 11 saves, setting an individual single-season record for the Cardinals and contributing to a program-record 17 total saves. In his 19 appearances, he posted a 1-0 record with 33.1 innings pitched, 51 strikeouts, a 3.78 ERA, and a 1.44 WHIP.

Head coach Adam Piotrowicz praised his closer:

"Jake has tremendous work ethic and has grown as a pitcher each year he's been on campus. There aren't many arms more talented than him in the region at any level. His fastball sits at 95+ mph and has touched 100 multiple times. He's got feel for three pitches and broke the save record last week. It's been an incredible season for Jake, and he's a big reason this team has had the success it's had."
