Baseball Falls in Series Finale at Ashland, 11-5

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University baseball team fell to Ashland University today by a final score of 11-5.

The Eagles (14-4, 3-0 GLIAC) dominated most of the action and took an 11-0 lead into the ninth inning.

SVSU (2-11, 0-3 GLIAC) started off the ninth inning with a pair of walks followed by a Dylin Eschenburg (Shelby Township, Mich. / Eisenhower) RBI single to put the Cardinals on the board for the first time.

After a Brad Schalk (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Bishop Foley) RBI single, Michael Craig (Milan, Mich.) tallied a fielder's choice RBI to cut the deficit to 11-2.

Freshman Dan Bolster (Dundee, Mich. / Dundee) followed with an RBI single of his own before Jason Hanson rounded out the SVSU scoring with another RBI single as the Cardinals fell by an 11-5 final.

SVSU will be back in action this Wednesday (March 27) for their home opener against Northwood at 2 p.m.
