connect to put a run on the scoreboard until the bottom of the
fifth inning. Leading off the inning, freshman Jason Potts
(Hardland, Mich.) drew a walk before being sent home by junior Josh
Peterson’s (Midland Mich.) double to left center field,
however the Cardinals were unable to connect for another hit until
later in the game.
Saginaw Valley would score again in the seventh inning as junior
Derek Foyt (Ortonville, Mich.) hit a two-out single up the middle

double to left field, sending Foyt to home, cutting the
visitor’s lead to two runs.
Peterson would lead off the bottom of the final inning with a
single to left center before advancing to second on a bunt off the
bat of junior Kevin Dore (Clio, Mich.). Foyt would step in and
reach first on a fielder’s choice. Peterson scored the third
and final run for Saginaw Valley on a throwing error by
Northwood’s short stop.
