SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Molly Vanderhoff

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Next up in our series is Women's Soccer student-athlete Molly Vanderhoff. Vanderhoff is a native of Sterling Heights, Michigan who has been a part of the program for the past four years. She has played in 75 career matches, starting 57 of those. She has racked-up 20 goals and 18 assists in her career with seven game-winners. She ranks sixth all-time with her 58 points and fifth with her 18 assists, also ranking third with her 90 shots on-goal. Vanderhoff is a two-time All-GLIAC First Team honoree and was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team once. She was twice named All-Midwest Region and earned Scholar All-America honors in her junior 2018 campaign. She helped lead the team to the 2018 NCAA Division II Tournament and a pair of appearances in the GLIAC Tournament title match.

Molly's favorite memories during her time competing for the Cardinals are all of the hotel stays and road trips with her teammates, along with competing in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Her two favorite road trips were the team's trips to the U.P. and Chicago.

Vanderhoff is an exercise science major with a minor in psychology. She is slated to graduate in Winter 2020. After graduation, Molly plans on applying to graduate programs to obtain a doctorate in physical therapy.

Outside of athletics, Molly enjoys going boating on the lake with her friends and family in the summer.

Molly Vanderhoff on her time as a student-athlete at Saginaw Valley State University

"I just want to thank all of my coaches that I have had the past four years; I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. You guys have taught me so much about soccer and also myself. I would also like to thank my parents for always making it to my games and cheering me on. Last but not least, I would like to thank my teammates for always having my back and pushing me to become a better player and person."

SVSU Women's Soccer Head Coach Michael O'Neill on Molly Vanderhoff...

"Molly has made such a huge impact on this program in her four years. She has an ability to glide past defenders like they aren't there and she has been one of the top players in the region since she started here. It has also been great to see Molly grow into the person and mentor she is today. To say she will be missed is an understatement."
