SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Hannah Tarnaski

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Hannah Tarnaski

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Next up in our series is Women's Soccer student-athlete Hannah Tarnaski. Hannah is a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan who has been a member of the team for the past four years. She has played in 55 career matches, starting 14 of those. She scored two goals and had four assists from the midfielder position. Tarnaski helped lead the team to an NCAA postseason appearance and two showings in the GLIAC Tournament championship match.

Hannah's favorite memory while competing for the Cardinals was when the team played in the NCAA Division II Tournament in her 2018 junior year. Another fond moment was when she scored against Ashland in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals this past senior year. Her favorite road trips were when the team went to Chicago her sophomore year and she won the scavenger hunt through the city, and when the team went on a preseason trip to Canada this past year and went to the lion safari.

Tarnaski is an exercise science major with a minor in athletic coaching. She is set to graduate in May 2020 with her bachelor's degree. She plans on applying to graduate school to receive her master's in occupational therapy.

Hannah was on the Dean's List her first four collegiate semesters and the President's List the past four. She received the Elite 19 Award for the Women's Soccer team, which recognizes the team member with the highest GPA.

Hannah Tarnaski on her time as a student-athlete at Saginaw Valley State University

"When I was about three years old, I started playing soccer with my two older sisters in our front yard, and since then I have dreamed of playing in college. To think my soccer career is over after 18 years is hard to believe, but I can't thank SVSU enough for all of the memories and people it has brought into my life."

SVSU Women's Soccer Head Coach Michael O'Neill on Hannah Tarnaski...

"It has been a pleasure to work with Han these last four years. She is one of the most coachable kids you will ever meet and has the drive to succeed at anything she sets her mind to. Her foot skills to evade defenders in the tightest of areas still amaze me but what we will miss most about Han is her big smile and her ability to lead those around her."
