SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Jayden Hutchinson

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Next up in our series is Men's Swimming & Diving student-athlete Jayden Hutchinson. Hutchinson is a native of Wollongong, Australia who has been a part of the program for the past four seasons. He competed in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly as his main events for the Cardinals. He holds four combined records in the pool for Saginaw Valley State.

Jayden is an exercise science and biology major who is set to graduate in May 2020. He plans on attending graduate school after for Physiotherapy.

SVSU Swimming & Diving Head Coach Bruce Zimmerman on Jayden Hutchinson...

"Jayden has proven himself to be a very valuable asset to the program, both in the classroom and the pool. As an Exercise Science major, he has consistently maintained one of the highest GPAs on the team during his career and he will graduate this May in four years. He has displayed strong leadership skills, having been voted team captain in his sophomore, junior and senior years and has provided much needed leadership to a young program. In the pool, Jayden has proven himself to be one of the most valuable members of the team. He currently holds program records in two individual events and is a member of two record setting relays. At the GLIAC Championships, he has consistently been one of the team's high point scorers all four years. Replacing Jayden on the team will be a very difficult task and he will be missed greatly."
