SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Kyle Henigan

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Kyle Henigan

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com over the next few weeks to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

We continue our series today with a feature of right-handed pitcher Kyle Henigan, who is a native of Hillman, Michigan. Kyle has been a member of the SVSU Baseball team for the past two seasons and has pitched in 16 games over the span of his career. He appeared in 13 games in 2018, starting 10 of them while posting a 4-3 record with 30 strikeouts.

Kyle's favorite spot on campus is the Herremans Family Weight Room, which is the official weight training facility for all Cardinal varsity student-athletes.

Henigan's best memory while competing for the Cardinals was the team's run to the GLIAC Tournament championship game in 2019, stating how exciting it was to see the team clicking together and really getting on a roll.

His favorite road trip while competing for the Cardinals was this past spring break trip to Florida, where Saginaw Valley capped-off competition for the season and had an 8-5 overall mark after the trip.

Outside of athletics, Kyle enjoys camping. His favorite part about camping is the fact you get to relax with friends and family and let everything else not matter for awhile.

Henigan is currently slated to graduate in December, 2021 with his master's degree in occupational therapy.

Kyle Henigan on his experience at Saginaw Valley State University...

"It was without a doubt the best experience I have had so far! I would not trade all of the sacrifice you have to give for anything else. College athletics helps mold you into a better human being!"

SVSU Baseball Head Coach Steve Jaksa on Kyle Henigan...

"After trying-out and not making the team several times, Kyle showed great character, persistence and determination and made the team prior to the 2019 season. He is a great model for any younger aspiring student-athletes. He overcame injuries and continuously improved, working his way into our starting rotation. Throughout his career at Saginaw Valley, Kyle has solidified himself as the type of person that he will continue to be into his professional career. He is a fine young man and it was an absolute pleasure for me to have the opportunity to coach him!"
