SVSU Women Place 22nd, Men 26th at NCAA Division II National Championship

JOPLIN, Mo. – Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's cross country competed in the NCAA Division II National Championship races at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri, on Saturday. The women placed 22nd as a team with a final score of 543. The men placed 26th in the 10K race with a team score of 605.

With their 22nd-place result, the women celebrated the fourth-consecutive top-25 finish for the team. It is the seventh top-25 placing for the SVSU women overall, a feat that matches the number of qualifications for the championship race.

Alexa Keiser was the top finisher for the Cardinal women as she placed 64th with a time of 21 minutes, 5.7 seconds. Maddie Isola finished the race in 21:52.6 to place 128th. Lauren Buckner crossed the finish line two places behind Isola in 21:52.6. Lynsey Amthor was 137th after a mark of 22:00.3. Karissa Picard rounded out the five runners for SVSU with a 186th placing after a finish of 22:22.7. Jenna Picard clocked in at 22:55.6 to finish 216th and Alexis Tracy placed 224th with a time of 23:02.5.

Dominic Suliman was the first finisher on the men's side as he completed the 10K in 30:57.2 to place 81st in the individual standings. Corey Bowers clocked a 31:26.1 to finish in 121st. Nick Bozarth finished third for SVSU at 133rd individually with a time of 31:32.1. Carson Hersch was next as he placed 141st with a finish of 31:36.3. Jack Lobodzinski completed the scoring for the Cardinals after he finished 204th with a time of 32:18.6. Matt Crowley crossed the finish in 32:30.5 for 219th and Thomas Hufton clocked a 32:55.2 to place 233rd in race.
