SVSU Men Picked 2nd; Women 3rd in 2019 GLIAC Cross Country Coaches Poll

GLIAC -- The Saginaw Valley State University Cross Country programs have been picked to finish near the top in the 2019 GLIAC Cross Country Coaches Polls, which were released on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Cardinal men were chosen to finish runner-up in the league for the 2019 camaign, garnering 87 points with a first-place nod. SVSU finished behind GVSU, which had 100 points and the other 10 first-place nods. 

Saginaw Valley is coming off a 2018 season where the Cards finished sixth in the nation after running to runner-up finishes at the 2018 GLIAC and Midwest Regional Championships.

The women's squad is picked third with 97 points, finishing behind second place Michigan Tech and preseason favorite GVSU. The Huskies collected 108 points and a first-place vote while the Lakers received 121 points and the other 11 first-place picks. 

SVSU finished third in the league at the 2018 GLIAC Championships and placed fifth at the NCAA Midwest Regionals.
