SVSU Men Picked 2nd; Women 4th in GLIAC Cross Country Preseason Poll

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) officially released the results of its 2018 preseason coaches poll today (Aug. 31) in conjunction with the beginning of the season. 

The Saginaw Valley State University men's team finished in second place with 91 points, nine behind first place Grand Valley State and receiving one first-place vote. The Cardinal women earned 91 points as well, finishing in fourth place, 10 points behind third-place Michigan Tech. Grand Valley State finished first on the women's side with 121 points while Northern Michigan was second with 108 points and a single first-place nod. 

SVSU's men have finished in second place the past two seasons and have been top-three the past three years. The women have posted top-five finished the past two years, finishing in the No. 4 slot at last year's championships. 

The men begin the season ranked No. 11 in the national by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Acssociation (USTFCCCA) and are slated as the No. 3 team in the Midwest Region Preseason Rankings. The women's squad sits at the No. 7 regional spot of the midwest preseason rakings.
