Lady Cardinals Snag Two Top 15 Finishes at Lansing Invitational

LANSING, Mich. — The Lady Cardinals participated in the Women's 5k Race Friday afternoon (Oct. 6) at the Lansing Invitational. Saginaw Valley had two top 15 finishes with over 100 participants in the race. 

Team Finish: 

Saginaw Valley Women's Cross Country team finished third over twenty teams that competed in the Lansing Invitational, finishing only 19 points behind first place Wayne State.  

Inside the Times

Freshman Isabella Garcia earned the top spot for the Cardinal team, recieving 11th place, running a 19.17.7. Next up for SVSU was Rebecca Estep, finishing 12th with a time of 19.38.3, her cross country collegiate best time. 

Carissa Martin was close behind, finishing in 16th place. She ran a solid 19.49.8, her lifetime best. Laura Estrada grabbed a time of 20:01.7, placing 21st overall. 

Another lifetime best time came from Kinzie Sikkema at 20:04.8. She rounded out the teams top 25 finishes. 

Other contributing runners for the SVSU team included Kylie Sikkema (43rd) and Madison Dean (71st).

Up Next...

The SVSU Cross Country teams will head over to the west side of the state to compete in the Jayhawk Invitational in Muskegon, Mich. Race is set to begin at 11 a.m.
