EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's cross country team posted a seventh place finish at the 2014 Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday (11/22).  The event was ran at the Angel Mounds State Historical Site in Evansville, Indiana.

The Lady Cards finished in the #7 slot with a 191 point total, finishing 11 points behind fellow GLIAC member Northern Michigan.  Grand Valley State claimed the event with a total of 42 points.

Emily Short led the Lady Cardinals with a seventh place finish in the race, crossing the finish line with a time of 21:12.7 in the 6K event.  She will advance to the 2014 National Championships to compete as an individual.  This year's event will be hosted as part of the Fall Festival on December 6th at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

Taylor Stepanski was the next best finisher for SVSU, finishing in 25th place with a mark of 21:48.0.  Chantelle Fondren was 44th with a time of 22:16.0 and Christina Micale was 57th, finishing with a time of 22:37.5.  Tori Peet rounded-out the SV scoring in 61st place and a time of 22:41.7.

Short and Stepanski were named to the All-Region Team for their performances.

The finish ends a run of three consecutive years advancing to the National Championships for the team, as the Cards posted an 11th place finish at last year's event in Spokane, Washington.
