Women's Cross Country Team Earns National All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's cross country team proved it could get it done on the trails this year, finishing 11th in the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championships, its third-straight finish in the top-13.

After an announcement today by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), the team's performance in the classroom is highlighted after being named to the USTFCCCA Division II Women's All-Academic Team.

The Lady Cardinals posted a 3.46 GPA, landing them on the list with 135 other DII women's programs.  In order to qualify for inclusion on the all-academic list, teams must achieve an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher and score points at the NCAA Regional Meet, a feat the women accomplished easily.

SVSU returns all but two student-athletes off its roster and all five competing members in this year's national championships.
