SVSU Runs To Victory At Michigan Intercollegiates

HILLSDALE, Mich. - Emily Short won her second-consecutive race for the Saginaw Valley State University women's cross country team at the 2013 Michigan Intercollegiate Championships.  The race was hosted by Hillsdale College at Hayden Park.

The Cardinals claimed the event as a team, as their top-five runners all finished in the top-eight with an average time of 18:53.85.

Short finished the race with a time of 18:18.89, finishing 18 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.

Amanda Lacertosa and Christina Micale finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with times of 18:53.37 and 19:01.22.

The Cardinals also held-down spots 7-9 in the event, as Jessica Reeves (19:06.59), Tori Peet (19:09.16) and Chantelle Fondren (19:09.89) all finished in the top-10 for SVSU.

The next meet for the Lady Cardinals will be the 2013 GLIAC Championship meet on Oct. 26th in Houghton, Mich.
