Lady Cardinals Place 6th at the Cross Country GLIAC Championships

HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Men's and Women's cross country teams competed today (Nov. 6) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships.

The Lady Cardinals earned an overall 6th place finish in the GLIAC and were led by junior Jean Hollerbach (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Point HS) who placed 28th overall and crossed the line with a time of 23:02.1.  Following close behind Hollerbach were teammates Chelsea Savage (Monroe, Mich./St. Mary's Catholic Central), clocking in at 23:18.1 placing 33rd, and Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS), timing in at 23:21.6 placing 37th.  Coming in behind Savage and Pittoors was junior Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who placed 41st and finished with a final time of 23:27.5.  Rounding out SVSU's top-five was freshman Dana Stolicker (Deckerville, Mich./Deckerville HS) who crossed the line at 23:38.9, good enough for 51st place.

The men's team also placed 6th overall and were led by senior Jeff Wilson (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon HS) who crossed the line with a final time of 25:54.9 placing him 17th overall.  Following Wilson was sophomore teammate Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who timed in at 26:11.6 which placed him 27th overall.  Coming in behind Noble were teammates Chad Scott (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS) and Greg Baade (Warren, Mich./De La Salle Collegiate) crossing the line at 26:54.7 and 27:00.1, respectively.  Finishing fifth for the Cardinals was freshman Matt Kabacinski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western HS) who clocked in with a final time of 27:07.8.  

The Cardinals will be back in action again Saturday (Nov. 20) when they compete in the NCAA Division II Regional meet held in Bellarmine Kentucky.
