Chelsea Bertie graduated from Hemlock High School in 2011, where she was a 2-time All-Conference and All-Region honoree, earned All-State Volleyball honors in both 2009 and 2010, and was named the Midland Daily News' Volleyball Player of the Year. She also played four years for the Valley East Travel Volleyball Club here in Saginaw.

She began her Collegiate Volleyball career as an outside hitter playing for Oakland Community College, where she graduated magna cum laude with her Associate Degree in Graphic Design. The Raiders were national NJCAA runner-up with a 42-4 record during Chelsea's freshman season. Bertie played for the Raiders during the 2011-2012 seasons earning an All-Conference selection and received the NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement Award. Chelsea continued her college volleyball career joining the Hill Toppers of West Liberty University, West Va., members of the Mountain East Conference. Chelsea graduated with Honors in December of 2015, earning a degree in Computer Information Systems.
 

Bertie has coached at the club level working with the Legacy Volleyball Travel team as 15’s head coach during the spring seasons of both 2012-2013, Assisted with local club team Valley Volleyball, and joined Mid-Michigan Magic Volleyball Club as Head coach in both the winter and spring Seasons of 2015-2016.

Chelsea follows in her parents' footsteps as members of the SVSU Cardinal Family. Chris Bertie, her Mother, led the Cardinal Volleyball Program from 1987-91, and 94-96, earing G.L.I.A.C. Coach of the Year Honors in 1987. Dave Bertie, her father was SVSU’s Head Athletic Trainer from 1980-95 earning him a spot in the athletic hall of fame, and is currently an Adjunct Faculty in the College of Education and the Department of Kinesiology.
