SVSU Wraps Up Midwest Region Crossover Volleyball Tournament in Indiana

HAMMOND, Ind.--The Saginaw Valley State University women's volleyball team concluded the Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 loss at the hands of Maryville University of Missouri.

Saginaw Valley currently stands 10-12 on the season.

Rylee Zimmer slammed 15 kills to lead all attackers and the Cardinals also got nine terminations from Madison Thompson, who hit .308.

Peyton Gerstacker directed the SVSU offense with 25 assists to go along with a team-high 11 digs, four blocks, three service aces and three kills.

Grace Knadler paced Maryville with 12 kills (.500) while Caroline Glastetter (.300) and Ella Brinkmann (.286) added nine apiece. Taylor Hasbrook led all student-athletes with 14 digs.

The Saints, who improve to 15-8 overall, outhit the Cardinals .265 to .156 and recorded 16 more kills (49-33).

Saginaw Valley gets back to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action next weekend when the Cardinals travel to Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday (5 p.m. ET) and then hosts Lake Superior State University on Saturday (4 p.m.) in Hamilton Gymnasium.
