SVSU remains undefeated, tops Seton Hill and Slippery Rock

CANTON, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team remained undefeated on the season after defeating the Seton Hill University Griffins and Slippery Rock University on Saturday at the Malone University Tournament. SVSU now moves to 8-0 on the year.

In the first game against Seton Hill, the Cardinals dropped set one 25-13. SVSU bounced back by winning the second set by a narrow margin 25-23. In set three the Cardinals cruised to a 25-13 victory before holding off the Griffins 27-25 in set four to take the match. 

Maria Vukaj led the Cardinals with 15 kills, while Rylee Zimmer, Haley Clum, and Caitlinn Pistro each had nine kills. Peyton Gerstacker had 41 of SVSU's 48 assists in the match while Pistro led the team with 20 digs. 

Game two against Slippery Rock University was a bit different as SVSU won the first set 25-17. After losing set two 25-23, the Cardinals took the final two sets rather comfortably 25-16, 25-11. 

Vukaj once again led the Cardinals with 18 kills while also having 16 digs. Clum had 11 kills and Gerstacker led the Cardinals with 41 assists. 

The Cardinals will return home to open GLIAC play at the Ryder Center on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. against Northwood University.
