Friesl, Tabit and Toland, earn All-GLIAC Volleyball Accolades

GLIAC The Great Lakes Intercolliegate Athletic Conference released their All-Conference Teams for the 2018 regular season on Friday (Nov. 9) in between the two semifinal contests held at Ferris State University. 

The junior class swept the awards for SVSU with Emily Friesl and Sarah Tabit both notching First-Team accolades, while libero Abbie Toland earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.

Tabit has now earned back-to-back All-GLIAC accolades, with a second team honor in 2017. She is currently leading the team with 364 kills and 26 service aces. She is fifth in the GLIAC for total kills. Tabit also tallied 138 digs and 27 blocks as well. 

Friesl has dominated the middle blocker position for the Cardinals this season, earning her first All-GLIAC accolade. She is second for kills behind Tabit with 284 and is top of SVSU for blocks with 94. She also has 57 digs and 15 aces on the year. 

Rounding out the accolades for the Cardinals is junior libero Abbie Toland, who has added 504 digs on the season and joined the 1,000 dig club during the month of October. Toland has also record 19 service aces and 65 assists on the season. Toland is currently third in the league for digs per set, averaging 4.75.
